Kontrasty (Contrasts) — international festival of contemporary music annualy held in Lviv (Ukraine) since 1995. The concept of the festival is aimed at presenting "contemporary Ukrainian music in the context of the world" and "revealing the diversity of modern forms, styles, genres and interpretations. The festival usually takes place in September-October. Along with such festivals as "Two Days and Two Nights of New Music", "Kyiv Music Fest" and others, "Kontrasty" is one of the leading festivals of contemporary classical music in Ukraine.

At the beginning of the festival, its concept was focused on avant-garde and experimental music (the model for the organizers was "Warsaw Autumn"), but over time the concept became less radical. In recent years, the experimental vector of the festival has returned[1].

The founders of "Kontrasty" are conductor Roman Revakovych, composer Yuri Lanyuk and musicologist Yarema Yakubyak. The artistic council also included Myroslav Skoryk (chairman) and Oleksandr Shchetynsky. The director of the festival is Volodymyr Syvokhip.

The Kontrasty program includes works by contemporary composers, including premieres, as well as classics of the 20th century and past eras. Some concerts are based on the comparison of "old" music with "new", when in one concert can be sounded works of the Baroque or Classicism and the music of modern composers.[2] Among the well-known participants of the festival: Krzysztof Penderecki (1996, 1999), Gia Kancheli (2014), Arvo Pert (2001), Sofia Gubaidulina (2012), Sigmund Krause (2008), Saulius Sondeckis (2006), Leonid Grabowski (2010), Boguslaw Schaeffer (2005), Elżbieta Sikora (2011) and others.[3]

In 2020 (the 26th) festival was held under the theme "Metamorphoses". [4]
