Kathar is a small village of 215 hectares in Baberu Tehsil in Banda district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kathar depends on kamasen, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One Well supply, One tank, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kathar's pin code is 210422[4], and village code is 04810600. The area of Kathar is segregated as 4.45 hectares irrigated area, 182.59 hectares unirrigated area. the 19.43 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 8.5 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of kamasen and Banda to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
