Kakab is a small village of 2697 hectares in Jaisalmer Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kakab depends on JAISALMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Kakab is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tanker. Kakab's pin code is 345001[4], and village code is 02015100. The area of Kakab is segregated as 1078 hectares irrigated area, 541 hectares unirrigated, the 520 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 558 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kakab has One public telephone. Kakab has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Kakab is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 238 and has total administration over 42 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jaisalmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
