Grazia De Sensi (born May 2, 1977) is an Italian journalist, business consultant, manager, Author, and podcast host.[1][2] She is best known for her work on L'ombra delle Donne, which translates to "The Shadow of Women." This podcast focuses on sharing intimate and personal stories from women who have faced various challenges, including emotional struggles, societal taboos, and mental health issues.[3][4]

Early life and education

De Sensi was born in 1977 in Calabria, Italy, to Antonia and Rosetta de Sensi. She completed her secondary education at Tommaso Campanella Linguistic High School in Lamezia Terme in 1996.

Later that year, she relocated to Salerno, where she pursued a degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Salerno, graduating in 2002. Her thesis, titled "Information Law in Public Administrations in Italy and France," involved research conducted at the Sorbonne-Université in Paris.

Following her graduation, De Sensi moved to Treviso, where she specialized in web content optimization and earned a master's degree from UnionCamere.

Career

Grazia de Sensi has over 21 years of experience in the digital market, specializing in corporate innovation, change management, digital transformation, and female empowerment.[5][6][7]

She began her career in 2003 as a SEO specialist at SEMS, Italy's first search engine optimization agency, where she combined her passion for storytelling with data-driven SEO techniques.[8][9]

In 2006, De Sensi transitioned into digital publishing. He launched NanoPress, a nano publishing network.[10] As the Product Manager at NanoPress, she implemented SEO-oriented editorial strategies, led a team of over 100 external bloggers and oversaw more than 40 magazines with a monthly audience exceeding 18 million unique users.[11]

In 2011, De Sensi was instrumental in managing the merger of Blogo and Blogosfere. As Senior Marketing Manager and Editorial Director at Blogo, she developed performance-based content strategies, merging SEO with social media approaches.[12] During her tenure, she oversaw 45 vertical magazines, reaching over 50 million page views per month, while leading a team of bloggers, editors, and social media professionals.[13]

In 2018, De Sensi joined Outbrain, a U.S.-based content native platform, focusing on business development for Italian publishers.[14] Her work at Outbrain broadened her expertise in international teams and introduced her to the applications of AI in content management.[15][16]

In 2019, she ventured into podcasting, collaborating with Sole24ore and Radio24 to explore the vocal medium.[17] She gained recognition after winning the Audible Academy award in 2020, leading to the launch of her podcast series L'ombra delle Donne (The Shadow of Women) on March 8, 2021.[18][19]

In L'ombra delle Donne, De Sensi invites women to share their "shadows," or the difficult aspects of their lives, fostering a sense of solidarity and awareness among listeners.[20] The podcast has tackled various themes, including mobbing, emotional dependencies, anorexia, and abuse.[21][22]

The series highlights the untold stories of women, was well-received, leading to the release of a second season in 2022.[23] The second season features twelve women who candidly reveal their struggles, aiming to inspire others by showcasing resilience and the beauty of shared experiences. The podcast was featured as one of the best Italian podcasts on women’s issue by Audible in 2022.[24]

In addition to her podcasting work, De Sensi is active in digital communication consulting and regularly writes on technology, women's rights, and trends in storytelling.[25] She continues to support female narratives and digital market trends through her work.[26][27]

Personal life

De Sensi resides in Milan, Italy. She is married and has two daughters.
