Chhaun is a small village of 443 hectares in Lalganj Tehsil in Azamgarh district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chhaun depends on Sarai Mir (NP), the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Chhaun's pin code is 276302[4], and village code is 08763700. The area of Chhaun is segregated as 197 hectares irrigated area, 156 hectares unirrigated area. the 36 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 54 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Sarai Mir (NP) and Azamgarh to sell jaggery and make their living.
