Charouan is a small village of 563.8 hectares in Belthara Road Tehsil in Ballia district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Charouan depends on Belthara Road , the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One Well supply and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Charouan's pin code is 221718[4], and village code is 09085100. The area of Charouan is segregated as 420 hectares irrigated area, 103.75 hectares unirrigated area. the 20 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 30 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Belthara Road and Ballia to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
