Peter Onni Andréas Wargenbrant known as Andréas Wargenbrant, born on October 13, 1967 in Helsingborg, is a Swedish sculptor, painter and photo artist.
Career
Andréas Wargenbrant is best known for his sculptural works in metals such as bronze, copper and cast iron, which have been surface treated to create a rustic, patinated finish. The methods involve, among other things, letting the sculptures wear outdoors for a long time and tooling them with different abrasives. He also engages in photography and painting.
Andréas Wargenbrant was born and raised in Helsingborg and is an autodidact. His major breakthrough came in 2010 with his interpretation of the classic Swedish Dala horse in bronze, which was sold at the auction house Bukowskis.[1] Motifs are often animals such as dogs, birds and horses, but money is also a central theme of the art.
His metal wall sculpture, "One Dollar", made its break in a longer exhibition at the classic Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.[2] [3] He has a large audience in Sweden and in Germany, where his sculpture "Ocean 1" was selected by Unesco[4] to represent a World Heritage Site [5] and now is on display in Hamburg.[6]
Huge versions of his art can be found in store rooms and foyers, such as the two-meter-high gold-patented shoe My love to Louboutin at Boman's hotel[7] in the Swedish city Trosa.
Andréas Wargenbrant is also artistic leader of "Spritan",[8] a creative hub created in Ödåkra liquor factory outside Helsingborg.
