Alien Samurai Dino Warriors
Alien Samurai Dino Warriors is an entertainment franchise created in 2021 by actor and electronic music artist Dimitri Vegas. It follows five anthropomorphic dinosaur siblings from another reality, four brothers and one sister, who are trained in bushido and fight crime in Los Angeles.
The creative team behind the property includes David Uslan and his father Michael E. Uslan, the originator of the Batman film franchises, from 1989’s Batman in film with Tim Burton and Michael Keaton, to Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, Zack Snyder Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League (film), to the Oscar winning ‘The Joker (film)’ and the upcoming 2022 blockbuster: The Batman (film).
Dimitri conceived the characters as a homage to 80s & 90s Comic book and Saturday-morning cartoon and has teamed up for writing duties with Erik Burnham, one of IDW Publishing's cost critically acclaimed writers on properties like Ghostbusters (franchise), Back to the Future (franchise) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. On the art-side, various Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW Publishing have been attached to the project, including Tyler Kirkham (Super Mario 64, Venom (comic book), Stephen Jorge Segovia (Batman, Carnage (character)) Brett Booth (X-Men, The Flash (comic book)) Diego Galindo (Power Rangers) and Jim Starlin, the creator of Marvel Comics Avengers: Infinity War uber-villain Thanos and many other Marvel characters including Guardians of the Galaxy Drax the Destroyer and Gamora.
The first issue of the graphic novel series is expected to hit the stores in Q4 2022 with a still to be revealed publisher.
Characters & Plot
On the planet the Alien Samurai Dino Warriors come from, technology is run by plentiful stores of energy crystals. One day, some miners discover a powerful crystal that’s almost alive. It can connect to living beings and give them great power. A war breaks out to control this crystal, decimating the planet and causing many to flee off-world.
A spaceship containing a large fragment of the mystical gemstone as well as the Dino Warriors' eggs landed on Earth centuries ago, hibernating through history. When underground construction awakens the ship's systems, the dinosaurs' eggs hatch in the modern day. Together with their Woolly mammoth mentor and human allies, a war for the ultimate power begins again.
Archimedes, a Triceratops, is the eldest of the group – the first to hatch, and its leader. He goes into battle with two impressive axes, powered by mysterious crystal shards.
A rebel through and through, Alexander – a Velociraptor – was the second to hatch. More than a little hot-tempered, he fights first and asks questions later. In addition to his dangerous claws, Alex is master of a two-sided saber-staff that can detach into dual-wielding blades.
Leonidas is the group's genius and a famed Tyrannosaurus Rex. And like all T-Rexes, he has super tiny arms…But unlike any other T-Rex, he has a set of Bionics arm attachments with retractable crystal powered claws. As Leo learns more about Civilization, he discovers his natural talent for mastering their technology – from videogames to hacking computers, Leonidas is a total whiz kid.
Cleopatra is a Dilophosaurus, the striking, agile dinosaur with a crest on its head – that can leap bounds and expand its neck frills in an amazing display. On top of being one of only five alien Dino’s on planet earth, Cleo also must learn to deal with being the only girl. In addition to her venom spray attack, she is unstoppable with her Crossbow and crystal powered arrows.
The baby of the family is Democritus, a Stegosaurus, the last one to hatch - but also the biggest sibling. He may be a totally irresponsible prankster, but beneath the humor Democritus is all heart – a brave and loving kid who will do anything for his siblings. He trains in the art of the double-sided crystal catspaw dagger that he can dual-wield like boomerangs.
The dinosaur's nemesis and most dangerous foe is the Sabretooth tiger Maximus, the leader of the criminal organisation 'The Eye'.
Merchandise & Other Media
Ahead of the graphic novel's launch, Alien Samurai Dino Warriors licensed an NFT drop on OpenSea with first concept art designs, 8-Bit styled versions and 3D collectible statues of the main characters. The main item of the collection was a '1 of 1' variant cover art piece by TMNT artist Jamie Johnson and was auctioned through OpenSea. A collaboration was announced with the gaming platform Wasder, around an upcoming Alien Samurai Dino Warriors videogame that is currently in development.
An official theme song for Alien Samurai Dino Warriors was created by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, alongside Hollywood, Los Angeles composers 2WEI. Dino Warriors also have various singles released on streaming platform and have gathered millions of plays on Spotify and Apple Music.
Together with the designer fashion brand POP CULTR., a Dino Warriors line of clothing is expected to drop in April and has been worn by Dimitri Vegas during his Tomorrowland Winter festival concert.
