Aldo Muzzarelli Is a Venezuelan Painter, widely known as the butterflies painter. He has been a Drawing professor in the Workshops taught by the Venezuelan Cultural Council. Won the sculpture Art contest COCA COLA and the Art of Our People in Caracas, Venezuela. Painted the Monumental Pantocrátor for the choir of the Cathedral of San Pedro in Caracas, Venezuela. He is the author of the monumental piece of Christ that hangs from the ceiling on the main altar of the Cathedral of San Pedro in Caracas. Many other pieces have been placed at several locations including the sculpture “Freedom” located at front of the Spartanburg Marriott hotel in South Carolina and "The Big Cocoon" located in Mauldin Public Art Trail, Mauldin SC.

Biography

Muzzarelli was born in Tinaquillo, Cojedes state in November 1963. He began painting and participating in contests at an early age. As a child, he worked at his Dad's movie theater. In 2013, he relocated to South Carolina, and since then he has been awarded 30+ Awards.

Muzzarelli earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Central University of Venezuela and completed advanced art workshops in Venezuela and Spain. He is trained in fresco painting, painting restoration, artistic stained glass, marble stucco, water gilding with fine gold, and grisailles, having studied in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, León, and Huelva.

Muzzarelli has worked as an illustrator at the Inter-American Language Center in Caracas and contributed to films produced by the Department of Cinema at the University of Los Andes. He also served as the Director of Culture in Tinaquillo, where he organized fine arts workshops across various Venezuelan cities.

Muzzarelli collaborated with Venezuelan master Abdón Romero and created monumental works for the Cathedral of San Pedro in Caracas.

In 2023, Muzzarelli participated in the ArtFields Art Competition with his piece titled "Intolerance," the first in a series reflecting his thoughts on moral issues.

Muzzarelli was the first place winner for his mixed media piece “Extemporaneous Menina Picking Up Prejudices I,” at Stephen F. Austin State University’s 2023 juried show.
