AccuKnox Inc. is a Zero Trust Cloud Native Application Protection Platform, offering innovative solutions for securing workloads against software supply chain issues, vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and malicious adversaries. AccuKnox has established itself as a leading multi-cloud security company, providing open-source and enterprise solutions that protect applications, data, and networks.[1][2]
History
AccuKnox was established in August 2020 by the co-founders Nat Natraj, Phil Porras, Rahul Jadhav, and Asif Ali in partnership with SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute) and CyberSecurity Computer Science Labs. AccuKnox solutions are anchored on seminal inventions in container security, anomaly detection, and data provenance. The company is committed to delivering zero-trust security solutions to address the needs of current and emerging cybersecurity challenges.[3]
AccuKnox is a core contributor to KubeArmor®, a widely recognized runtime security solution within the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). Leveraging an open-source approach, AccuKnox addresses runtime attacks and excels in network security.[4][5]
The company's Zero Trust CNAPP offering plays a pivotal role in aiding organizations with digital transformation while mitigating cybersecurity risks. It integrates Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Kubernetes Security Posture Management (KSPM), and the Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP).[6][7]
AccuKnox leverages foundational open-source platforms like eBPF, SPIFFE, OPA, and Kyverno to provide comprehensive security, compliance, and governance solutions for public and private clouds.[8][9][10][11]
In 2022, AccuKnox joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner Program and made its runtime security available on the VMware Marketplace. The company also participated in the 5G Open Innovation Lab Development Program and commenced a research project with SRI International and Ohio State University, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Convergence Accelerator, focusing on 5G security.[12][13]
Partnerships
In 2023, AccuKnox formed strategic alliances to enhance its cloud security offerings. It partnered with Livanta LLC to strengthen cloud security and compliance. AccuKnox also collaborated with ONDA to provide a zero-trust CNAPP solution. Additionally, it joined forces with Touchstone Security to offer comprehensive cloud security services. In a bid to expand its presence, AccuKnox partnered with Brasec to deliver comprehensive cloud security services in Brazil and Latin America, underscoring its commitment to advancing cloud security solutions on a global scale.[14]
Furthermore, AccuKnox has joined esteemed partners, including Mimik Technologies and IBM, as a project partner in the Open Horizon initiative.[15]
Funding
AccuKnox has raised $10.6 million USD in funding to support its growth and development. In April 2021, the company closed an oversubscribed $4.6 million seed financing round led by National Grid Partners, with strategic participation from SRI, z5Capital, and Outliers VC. In March 2023, AccuKnox raised an additional $6 million in Seed Prime funding, with MDSV leading the investment, supported by Avanta Ventures, Dolby Family Ventures, DreamIT Ventures, 5G Open Innovation Labs, and National Grid Partners.[16]
